Hi APEx team!
we have seen few cool demonstrations of the capabilities of the Geospatial Explorer as a highly configurable web map GUI with quite some user interaction functionalities and we were curious if the project is Open Source or with a plan to be and therefore potentially reusable by the community? Even without the connection to PRR and APEX directly, it could serve as a great visualization tool for external endpoints and STAC-described data.
Thank you for your positive comments about the Geospatial Explorer. Apologies for the slow response to your query.
The original APEx contract requested that the Geospatial Explorer (then referred to as the “dashboarding solution”) be made available with a permissive open source license agreement. Although we intend to do so, we have not discussed the details within the APEx consortium. We will add this to the agenda for the full term review and the APEx project’s phase 2 kick-off meeting during the first week of June. Before that, it would be helpful to understand if your interest is limited to using a deployed GE for your own project, or if you are also interested in contributing to its development. We look forward to hearing from you.
